We needed to go to war with Japan so other nations didn't think the U.S was an easy target. The U.S needed to retaliate.

Use it on them so it doesn't go "to waste"? In and of itself, using a bomb for the sake of using it does not accomplish anything except no longer having to pay the maintenance cost. (which is relatively small)
Thats a waste of an american Nuclear bomb why not put it on them so it doesn't go to waste

the use of nuclear weapons is contrary to the spirit. the dropping of this bomb was a direct violation of the charter of the united nations it would exceed even the scope of war and cause indiscriminate suffering and destruction to mankind and civilization and, as such, is contrary to the rules of international law and to the laws of humanity
Any State using nuclear or thermo-nuclear weapons is to be considered as violating the Charter of the United Nations, as acting contrary to the laws of humanity and as committing a crime against mankind and civilization

The island would be totally flattened and dead. They wouldn't want their country to look like that. So they would surrender.

That didn't stop Japan. They killed our innocent civilians so we were just repaying the favor. It was most effective for us because we didn't lose any troops in the bombing.

I agree that there were probably better ways to do this but the Japenese killed a lot of our people when they bombed us first

How would it have made them surrender?

Japan started the war by bombing a military base in America. So to retaliate we're going to bomb their cities and kill civilians? That isn't going to make it any better.

many of Japans citizens were killed from the dropping of the bomb.

I agree with this but they are the one that had bombed us first yes it was wrong for them to bomb us and it was wrong for us to do but it was the best way for us to do it
